The day started off with a come to reality moment. We were over a days worth of driving away from Tocson. We had thought that we could spend 2 nights at the Grand Canyon and then just drive up to Tocson the next day. The amount of driving we would have to do was at least 8 hours. So to avoid having to drive all day we decided to leave today, drive to Prescott and then go to Tocson tomorrow. So after we were all awake we began working our way towards Prescott. We had about 300 miles to cover so getting an early start was helpful.
About an hour into the drive, we drove over the Colorado river. We hadn't yet eaten our daily watermelon so we pulled off the road after the bridge. After I finished my late breakfast I headed over to the Colorado River foot bridge. There was a sign that read "Don't jump of the bridge." I laughed because the fact that there was enough of a reason to put the sign there was kind of sad. The foot bridge was hundreds of feet above the river. Cliffs that reminded me a little bit of the Grand Canyon rose along either side of the Colorado River. Small little boats were floating in the water, Which explained the other sign I had seen 'Do not throw anything off the bridge"
We continued through Arizona, gusts of wind rocked the Rv back and forth along the road. The wind blew into the cracks of the windows and the door making unnecessary noise.
By the time we were in Prescott it was around 5:30. Leaving about an hour until the movie started. Phoenix, Oregon was playing in the Yavapai Community college. When we went to introduce the film, there was at least 50 people inside anticipating the movie. Over our 5 day break from the tour we had gotten kind of discouraged, but now seeing a room filled with people excited to see the movie played, it sent a rush of inspiration through my head as well as my family's. While the movie was playing we lined up the RVs and took some group photos. Time passed, we ate some food and brainstormed new ideas.
Then a little passed 8, we headed into the college film studies classroom and answered the audiences questions, we took pictures with our new pet alien. We sold more shirts then we had ever before. Next up on the National Phoenix, Oregon Movie Tour is Tocson Arizona. The movie is playing in The Loft Cinema at 7:00. See you there!
"Daily watermelon"?? That sounds GREAT! Especially in the Colorado River country. The Pueblo Indians grow watermelon, including the Hopi who do a sacred hike from their pueblo to gather salt in Grand Canyon. Everyone in that desert needs a daily watermelon!!!
