Day 29, Tangled Trees

Updated: Jul 16, 2019

We stayed in yet another Rv park last night, we pulled into our site at about 11. This Rv park was right by the freeway, but over the sound of our AC you could barely see it. When we got to the Rv park the lady I had talked to on the phone had told me to call her when we got there so she could lead us to our spot. I didn't much understand why she needed to take such drastic measures. Something about not hitting the water tank?? I wasn't exactly sure.

In the morning at about 9 we drove back to Talent to go to the natural grocers. We were used to entering these kind of stores, and usually right when we entered there would be racks of cherries or grapes. This time what I first say was vitamin's. I didn't think much of it, but later found that their produce trunk was delivering new foods later today, so we decided to get the basics today and head to a different store tomorrow to stock the fridge with fruit. We were all pretty fruit deprived, if that's a thing, so we Kim, Daniel, and I all got fruit smoothies, since the store didn't have any other fruit.

We had to Fort Worth today, it was only a couple hours away so we hung around in the Rv for a little bit and then headed on our way. Fort Worth didn't used to really be a town, but over the years its grown to were a decent chunk of people live there. Including one of Kim's College friends. We went to the Y in town, and did some work at the nearby library. Then proceeding to meet up with Kathleen, Kim's friend as well as her husband and two daughters. We all went out to Gloria's a neighboring restaurant. The food was delicious and filling, we had to cut off our meal a little bit to get back to the Rv to set up our merchandise.

The Modern Cinema didn't much look like the familiar cinemas we had been playing at, the entry way was mansion like. There was a reflective pool on the opposing side of the doors. The water was glassy at first but as time passed a family of ducks swam by and stirred up the water. The water was only a couple feet deep, with rocks at the bottom. Across the pool was silver trees, they were on a field of untouched grass, they were entangled almost as if they were fighting one another. One of Kathleen's daughters told me that she had her prom here, in the dining area, they had cleared out the tables and set up a prom, a prom looking over the water to the trees.

You have to understand about produce in Texas. They put it IN the store at the age we take it OUT as unsalable on the coast, and then they add a zero to the price so it costs 10x as much. Sad but true. [Used to be they made up for it with excellent seafood, but you guys don't eat that.] If you see a truck driven up overnight from the Rio Grande Valley parked at the roadside and selling produce, buy all you can there, that will be the best stuff.
