I hadn't gotten to bed until after 2. there had been a after party across the street from the theater that started once the movie had finished. Ben and Kim had gone for an hour so, they weren't back to the Rv until 1. The Rv park we were staying at was about half an hour away, so we secured the Rv for driving and headed out. We drove along the highway for 20 miles or so. Then pulled off and drove down a few side streets until we found the park. The night passed seamlessly, I got to sleep in till 11, not that I got any more sleep then any of the other days, but it felt like I had. Since I woke up on my own terms it was much easier to get out of bed, I went for a walk around the burning oven outside with Kim. We located the bathrooms, showers, and laundry room. All the facilities were much nicer then the previous Rv park.
Daniel and Kim both showered, and Kim also finished our laundry. It took the correct amount of time today, meaning the dryer didn't take an hour and a half to fully dry the clothes. It wasn't until 3 o'clock that we left. Ben wasn't super happy about this because once we got on the road we hit a traffic jam. It looked a lot worse then it was, only a ten minute delay. We got up to Belton at about 6, parked and introduced ourselves to the theater. The man working said that he didn't expect a super great turnout just because we hadn't booked this theater until 6 days ago. They still had posted it on their Instagram, Facebook, and put up our posters. Daniel went back to the Rv and I walked around a little, but within a couple minutes of walking I was overheating and after that it wasn't super fun to walk around.
I headed back to the Rv to join Daniel, he had cooled down the Rv, so it was nice to feel cold air again. People had warned us about how humid and hot Texas was, but this was on a different level, if you turned off the ac for even a minute the Rv would immediately heat back up again. Just a few blocks away from where the Rv was parked there was a river that in some places was up to my neck. Daniel and I headed down, even at 7:30 pm it was still baking outside, the river wasn't super cold, but it had a decent current, in some places it dropped off making it fun to float down. We floated until it was to shallow and then we worked our way back to our stuff, picking up good skipping rocks along the way to throw them.
When we got back the rice I had turned on when we had left was finished, Kim and Ben were eating already so we joined in. The crowd that had showed up was small as predicted but not any less exited to see the movie. The small town of Belton didn't get new releases that often so they were so happy to finally see one. It made me think about how many people would have came if we had booked the theater earlier. Next up on the Phoenix, Oregon Movie tour is Fort Worth Texas. Playing at The Modern Cinema at 7:00 pm. See you there!
The whole swimming in the river with your brother and having it drop off and the current in a strange land that is hot and humid sounds pretty epic on a nostalgic level. Almost sounds like the intro to a movie all by itself! 😃
