Today we once again were in the Gulpha Gorge Campground, swimming in the creek, driving or hiking to Hot springs for town needs, less hiking now because we recently discovered it was tic season out here and nobody wanted a possibly disease infested bug around them. We left early to head out to the crystal mining in Jessieville. I didn't know what to expect, we hadn't signed on to actually mine, we wanted to see the facility first. When we arrived I immediately began to see crystals, giant ones, blue ones, black ones and giant rocks filled with them. I got my hopes up a little when I saw this but when I saw where people were actually mining they dropped a little bit. It was just a big area of red ground dropped off by trucks that supposedly had crystals in it. It was 10 dollars for a full day of mining. Any crystal you found you got to keep. We looked around their crystal shop and I immediately knew that we weren't going to find any of these rocks. The ones they sold came from all over the world. And the prices were higher than in California.
We decided to skip the mining just because the chance of actually getting a rare high quality crystal was very low. We got back in the Rv and headed back to our campground. We also decided to take today as a laundry day. I was basically out of clean clothes, to the point that when we went into the Walmart on the way back I had to buy new shorts. Not that I was upset to add to my wardrobe. Once we were fully back at the Rv we gathered up our laundry and then began driving into Hot Springs, we stopped at the first car washing station we saw and rinsed down the Rv and cleaned the inside a little bit. Then we drove to the laundromat and put our clothes in the washer. We waited around the laundromat until the wash finished and then switched to the dryer. Daniel and I sat in the Rv until the 40 minutes passed. I went back inside and folded all my clothes and brought them back outside. It was calming to know that I had clean folded clothes in my storage cabinet.
We then met up with the other Rv and headed down the street to a 4D virtual reality shop. It was basically like one of those rides that they have in bowling alleys, except much bigger and more fun. I went on the speed coaster, my seat moved under me and in front of me was a 3D screen that made it feel like we were on a ride. The screen showed a track and our 'train car' would go along the tracks and then fall off them and plummet into a skull or a hive of bees. The ride was over almost immediately which I was a small bit dismayed about. It was still fun but I thought it would have lasted longer. We headed to the campground and then made pasta with red sauce. Multiple plates later we were all stuffed and full. Next up on the Phoenix, Oregon Movie tour is Hot springs , Arkansas. Playing at the Hot Springs Central Theater at 8:00. See you there!
Oh, I would have mined the crystals. Yes, everything you said, but you can always get lucky!
I got some amethysts at a mine in Canada, and while I got no great stones, I got some tiny ones with great color. Every time I have given one to someone, I can say "here, this is out of the earth and no one's hand has touched it but mine."
Great pictures!!!
