Day 39, Traffic Trouble

Last night we hadn't stayed in an Rv park, we had parked in a hotel parking lot, the lot outside the hotel that Molly, one of the producers, had stayed in last night. Today we a rest day, meaning we didn't have to be to a screening tonight. Still we did have to drive at least some if not all of the 4 and a 1/2 hours to Charlotte. Ben wanted to go the Y, and some of the others wanted to take a look around Atlanta. I went with the group into Atlanta, so did Kim. We drove with the other Rv straight into the center of the city. At the time it seamed like a great idea. It was already pushing 2. So we didn't have much time to explore the inner sections of Atlanta. We walked down a path, that connected a few different parts of the city, until we ended up on a rooftop and then we walked into a food court and got some lunch. Ben and Daniel had just finished their workout when we got back to the other Rv.

Atlanta was one of the biggest cities in the U.S. so since we were just leaving town right when rush hour was beginning the traffic was pretty horrible. There was also a car crash just out of town. We were barely moving in some places and in others inching along. Daniel and Ben were about 10 miles ahead of us and let us know that we should get off the freeway because of how big the delay was. The other Rv was slowly getting farther ahead of us, We told them to pull of the road and wait for Kim and I to get there. Once we were all back in our original RV's we continued on the road. The highway we were on eventually would give us an option to get back on the 85. We drove for a few hours before deciding to pull off the road and make dinner. The other Rv was going to continue to find us all an Rv park for tonight. Midway through our meal we got a notification that we would be staying at the KOA in Charlotte. With a destination to get to we began driving again.

We still had a couple hours to go and it was beginning to get dark. By the time we were getting closer to Charlotte the sky was black and the stars was poking out of the clouds. Signs for Charlotte began to show up, the distance from us to there slowly diminished. When we were about 40 miles out road work began to slow us down. The roads were not on our side today, at least we wouldn't have to drive tomorrow. Next up on the Phoenix, Oregon Movie is The C3 Cinema in Charlotte, NC. See you there!
